MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Fun and exciting learning opportunities are available for children who enroll in Ebenezer Child Care Centers’ 2015 Summer Blast Program. This year’s program will be running from June 8 – August 28 at Ebenezer’s Southside (1496 South 29th Street), Downtown (340 West St. Paul Avenue), Oak Creek (220 West Forest Hill Avenue), and Wauwatosa (UnitedHealth Group Building at 10701 West Research Drive) locations.
According to Beverly Anderson, executive director for Ebenezer Child Care Centers, “Our Summer Blast Program is so much fun for kids because it takes engaging, age-appropriate curriculum and ties it to great weekly themes that allow children to learn all about the world around them! The program is also overseen by our well-trained and enthusiastic child care professionals. It really is the perfect way for children through age 12 to spend their summer!”
Families may sign up for one or more of the following weekly sessions, depending on their schedule. This year’s themes include:
Session 1: June 8 – June 12, Moovin & Groovin Camp
Get actively engaged in music and activities that promote healthy habits through increased physical activity!
Session 2: June 15 – June 19, Go Green Camp
Who knew a cardboard box could have 534 different uses? This week, we will learn how to reduce, reuse, and recycle as well as protect our environment. Who knew protecting our environment could be so much fun?
Session 3: June 22 – June 26, Design & Build Camp
Milwaukee is home to many beautiful buildings. Some world-famous designers have lent their expertise to the making of our wonderful city. Legos, Kinex, and Lincoln Logs will assist in the exploration of architecture and aesthetics of buildings as we build and design.
Session 4: June 29– July 3, Creativity Has No Limits Camp
Express your creative side through art, music and dance. Learn about how the creative process is more important than the product.
Session 5: July 6 – July 10, Once Upon a Story Camp
Learn more about famous children’s authors like Eric Carle, J.K. Rowling, Roald Dahl, and Andrew Clements. Read, write and act your way through many well-known children’s works!
Session 6: July 13 – July 17, Make a Difference Camp
From soup kitchens to saving gorillas, everyone can make a positive impact through their actions – learn how!
Session 7: July 20 – July 24, Infinity and Beyond Camp
Explore the vast world of outer space and let your imagination soar as you create spaceships and out-of-this-world colonies.
Session 8: July 27– July 31, Top Chef Camp
Learn about nutrition, the math and science behind cooking and the art of cooking while making healthy and delicious treats.
Session 9: August 3 – August 7, Barnyard Palooza Camp
Oink! Moo! Cock-a-doodle-do! Put on your best pair of overalls and join us down on the farm for some barnyard fun. We’ll kick up some hay as we learn about all the animals that live on the farm.
Session 10: August 10– August 14, Fun & Fitness Camp
Develop your motor skills and learn the importance of cooperation and teamwork while having fun participating in fitness focused activities.
Session 11: August 17 – August 21, Splish Splash Camp
Are you ready for a wet and wild week? From playing silly water camp games to learning about undersea creatures, this camp is sure to “float the boat” of any aquatic enthusiast!
Session 12: August 24 – August 28, Wacky Scientist Camp
Looking for a fun and educational summer camp for the young scientist, inventor, or engineer? This week will definitely be chemically “charged” with fun!
There is a program fee for preschool and school-age children who participate in Ebenezer’s 2015 Summer Program to help defray the costs of the field trips, special activities, and special guests. In addition, families will be charged Ebenezer’s standard weekly tuition fee which varies depending on the age of the child.
