Participate in Library Card Sign-Up Month

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! It’s easy to do, free, and a great way to share the love of reading with your children.

In Milwaukee County, adults who want to sign up for a library card need to stop at any neighborhood library (go to http://www.mpl.org for a list of locations) and provide two forms of identification showing name and current address within Milwaukee County.  Acceptable forms of identification include a driver’s license, a current utility bill, or mail postmarked within the last 30 days.

Children who want to sign up for a library card must be able to print their first and last names.  Applications for all children and young adults under 15 years of age must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.  Then, for the protection of the child and to safeguard the library collection, the library requires a photo of the child remain on record at the checkout desk.  If you choose not to have your child’s photo taken, you will need to be present showing your own identification whenever your child checks out materials.
